Manifesto for the Malad Assembly Constituency which is based on the actions initiated by our dynamic MP Shri Sanjay Nirupam and inputs received from representatives of the Public, NGOs, Elected Representatives and Party Functionaries which have been broadly classified as under.

Public Amenities and Utilities

  • To replace the corroded water mains in Malad and Malwani which are nearly 5 decades old.
  • To extend a new water pipeline into Chikoowadi, Malwani.
  • Extension of sewer connections into zones like Chikoowadi.
  • Electric Cables to be extended to isolated and far flung areas such as Rathodi/Malwani, Ambojwadi and Azminagar.
  • Energy Saving Solar Lights to be installed from Evershine Nagar to Malwani.

 

  • To fight against inflated Reliance Energy Bills and to end their Monopoly by providing alternate power supply to consumers.
  • To demand reduced BMC assessment tax for original occupants of re-developed buildings.
  • Water supply to be augmented to match the needs of the growing population in the area.
  • Development and upkeep of the dilapidated Malad Subway Garden into a lush Green Zone.
  • Restoring and restructuring the much used Malad Market to ensure more hygienic premises.

Transport

As most of the population in Malad work or have business / commercial / stock exchange Offices situated in the city area located at distance of nearly 40kms from Malad, highest priority will be given to improvement and up-gradation of Rail services. Under the leadership of Shri Sanjay Nirupam, Member of Parliament we will initiate the following proposals:

  • Introduction of special air-conditioned trains between Malad and Churchgate during peak hours.
  • Harbour rail services to be extended to Borivali via Malad at peak hours.
  • To demand Ladies special trains at peak hours between Malad and Churchgate.
  • Konkan Railway route to be extended to Mangalore and Kerala via Borivali Railway station.
  • To provide fly over at the junction of Link road and Malad Marve road.
  • A comprehensive traffic management plan by a committee of experts to regulate traffic on SV Road, Malad-Marve Road and Link Road.
    To Widen & improve SV Road and to remove bottle necks.
  • To Widen & improve Malad Station Road and resolve problems faced by the Railway Commuters in consultation with the Railway Travelers Association.
  • To propose Hovercraft services from Marve to Nariman point after consultations with the koli samaj.
  • To provide a foot over bridge between Madh Island and Versova.
  • To provide a boat jetty at Madh Island.

Education, Health and Sports

  • To establish a Government/ Municipal Health Club and Swimming Pool for the common public.
  • To ensure availability of ambulance services within 2kms all over the constituency.
  • To establish a College for Women at Malad / Malwani.
  • To provide Nana-Nani Park / Aadhar Kendra's for Sr. Citizens.
  • To propose a Sports Complex for nurturing the sporting talents and to constructively direct the energies of the youth.
  • To start a digital library and Computer literacy centre for lower middle class.
  • To upgrade the existing libraries.
  • To refurbish Abdul Kalam Azad Maternity Hospital and to provide additionally Children's Ward and state of the art diagnostic centre.
  • BMC Hospital at Kanakia Towers, Shankar Gully, to be re-developed and made operational. To explore the possibility of introducing Cancer treatment here.
  • To provide a Maternity / Nursing home at Malvani / Marve.

Socio-Economic Development

  • To assist local Youth for Jobs and Placements in the nearby call centre hubs and other offices.
  • Existing Women cells to focus on small-scale business (SMEs) - specifically focusing on catering and tailoring enterprise to enable women to earn in their homes.
  • Sports activities for underprivileged children in already existing playgrounds.
  • Prime Fast track facilities in BMC cells in various areas to reach out to and solve concerns for citizens who are disabled & aged.
  • Free educational classes for Special children who are disabled and underprivileged.
  • Improve Emergency service especially post Midnight via help-lines for accidents reporting or other victims / attacks.

The Development Plan of the city is due for review in 2010/11. It will be my endeavor to carry out an in-depth study on the infrastructural needs of the constituency and have them incorporated in the Development Plan and comprehensively resolved with the future growth in mind.
